Eleven creators. An (online) exhibition. A theme: Making connections.

The longing for contact. A sense of belonging. Knowing that you are supported by a much broader field of people and feeling that you are remembered. Currently, many people are experiencing the consequences of the virus that has been circulating among us for some time. We are witnessing how our external world shrinks, while our internal world expands.

The creators of ROEM were inspired by this and decided to work together in a new discipline: film.

Since it is not possible to organize an exhibition, we bring the art to your home. Each creator has conducted artistic and cinematic research into loneliness and connection in recent weeks. By engaging with strangers, the city of Leiden, each other, or even themselves, each creator tells a story.

The theme arises from the necessity felt by the artists within ROEM to establish a connection with the city of Leiden and the people who live there.
